recommend 2 USD - Porters on Kilimanjaro: We recommend 10 USD per porter per day
- Cook: We recommend 15 USD per day
- Guide: We recommend 20 USD per day
- Transfer driver: Around 5-10 USD per drop off
- Driver-guides: We recommend 25 USD per day
- Of course you can make your own decision and tip either less or
more.
MEDICINE AND MEDICAL CHECKS
- Please consult your doctor before departure so that you can be
sure of your holiday. - We advise all our clients to have sufficient travel and medical
insurance. - Please consult with your doctor about which malaria prevention is
best for you. - Yellow Fever vaccination certificate is required for some
countries so check with our sales team to clarify the requirements.
BEST TIME TO VISIT
- Tanzania can be visited all year round as the infrastructure is
friendly and accessible at all times, but early December to late
March is the best time, as well as early June to late October.
VISA
- Most foreigners need a visa to enter Tanzania.
- The visa can be purchased at the entry point It usually takes
about 30 minutes depending on the number of people who are there
at the time, and it costs 50 USD, or 100 USD for American citizens. It
is also possible to apply for a visa online – see
www.immigration.go.tz .
MONEY MATTERS
- Credit cards are accepted in big hotels and restaurants.
- ATMs are located in many areas around the central business
districts of the cities. - US Dollars, Sterling Pounds, Euros and local currency Tanzanian
Shillings are more useful. - If you are bringing US Dollars in cash make sure the notes are
from 2006 or later. - 1 USD is equivalent to 2,300 Tanzanian Shillings.
